Economic Development

Marshall County, Oklahoma is located in south central Oklahoma cradled in “the arms of Lake Texoma” along our southern border.  We are the smallest county in Oklahoma with a population of 16,049.

Marshall County is two hours from both Dallas/Ft. Worth and Oklahoma City with Durant, OK 30 miles to the east and Ardmore, OK 30 miles to the west.  We are strategically located approximately halfway between Dallas and Oklahoma City, and halfway between Interstate 35 and U.S. Highway 69-75 on the connecting link of U.S. 70. The county is less than 2 hours from the DFW airport with quick access to all national and international cities.

Major industries include mobile home, pecan processing equipment, trailer manufacturing plants, trailer parts suppliers, wire and steel plants, medical industry at all levels. Combined, these industries generate over 1000 jobs in our County.

Our economic health is also supported by the tourism industry that equates to approximately seven million visits a year to the Lake Texoma area.  Lake Texoma affords every kind of water entertainment, at every level, to anyone who loves a lake community: year round fishing and boating, water skiing, wake boarding, beautiful resorts, marinas and fully outfitted camping grounds.  Also available in visits to Marshall County are hunting, sightseeing, golfing, shopping, and business pursuits.  Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club overlooks Lake Texoma and the Roosevelt Bridge to the east of the County while Buncombe Creek Golf Club is conveniently located in a beautiful country setting on the west side of the County. We are the home of the National Sand Bass Festival that brings 15,000 to our County every June.  Lake Texoma is one of the greatest striper fishing lakes in the world!

Our two airports, located 3 miles NW of Madill (the City of Madill) and 4 miles E of Kingston (at Lake Texoma State Park), provide easy access to our tourism attractions and businesses.  Both have their own lighted, paved airstrips for private planes. Less than 25 miles away is the Ardmore Airport, a former military base. Ardmore has an FAA control tower and IL System with the capability to land not only the largest executive jets, but large commercial jets as well, on its 7,200 foot runway.

Bordered by the Washita and Red Rivers' arms which form Lake Texoma, Marshall County is really like one big town made up of many smaller communities. Marshall County includes 589 miles of shoreline and the best beaches on the lake. Choose from our many Resorts & Marinas and Hotels for your next vacation or holiday. We have multiple golf courses and offer many other activities for your enjoyment.

There are several Chickasaw Gaming Centers in our County, and we are in close proximity to the Choctaw Casino in Durant, OK, and Winstar Casino, of the Chickasaw Nation, in Thackerville, OK.  Both are fully complimented casinos with gaming and entertainment including concerts featuring named entertainment.
